Great review Errol as always mate on the few shaves I had with Mara
I used a wizmet I found it wasn’t too badly behaved although I only used one twice.
Look forward to your next review, mate
Cheers.
My “top” favourite brush is me Trubby 2.5 ( 1/2 way between a Simpson 2 & 3)with a 24mm Badger knot made out of Jarrah (curly) hardwood, finished in multiple coats ofAC, made by Troy at Troy Craft in Brisbane, Australia.
First honing session of 2026. Took this Tanifuji to a small, buttery vintage coticule. Began with a milky slurry and finished with whisper light strokes on water. HHT off the stone was solid, after stropping on linen, superb!

Who doesn't love a great fougère?
Rhetorical question...everyone, of course.
And the absolute KING of fougères is...Brut.

There are many good razors out there but only the cream rises to the top. I’ve stepped back to have a good hard look at the best razors I’ve used before coming up with my latest list. This list may upset some but...

PROBAK junior blades.
By the late 1920s, Gillette had become complacent. They were still manufacturing blades using the outdated method of stamping when competitors had been making blades from continuous steel strip for several years.

Pipe smokers, in my opinion, are drawn to the ritual of preparing the pipe and tobacco. The pipe must be properly loaded, lit correctly, and smoked slowly, tamping at the right time. Quite different from lighting a cigarette and puffing away...
Superb blades, unfortunately I’ve only got 3 left, really enjoy them in my Gen 1 Aristocrat for a “special” shave. Sabbatical this year so will look for some 2027 🤞.
@Vittoria , I’ve got a few packets and some loose/single ones, but the enclosed photo is a packet I received with a 1909 Gillette ABC, but can’t confirm date etc from Mr Razor’s Blade page?
For the most part yes.:cool:Gillette England never made Adjustable models( all U.S made.only packaging, name differences),and also made models like the Rocket 500 HD, in which doesn't have a U.S equivalent..even when Gillette France started making...
IMHO, I believe the finish quality on a Made in England, Vintage Gillette is “better” than the USA manufactured ones. The one there in a special lift up case is known as a Bostonian and a Ridgewood in a timber case. Gillette was well known for...
Haven’t got a clue the “guts” of that, as since I’ve been a P&C Forum member, I’ve looked forward to “my” 15min read every Saturday morning and the “passive” enabling 😂😂 but more importantly helping me make a more informed decision prior to any...
I have previously posted my Weekly Razor Review on Paste and Cut for about seven years. For reasons unbeknown to me, I was advised last week that there was a 2016 sabbatical on razor reviews. I have checked with the moderators hare and they...
I took an inventory about five years ago. Here are some of the pictures of the Gillettes. If you are interested, the whole inventory is here: https://jrshaving.blogspot.com/2018/07/inventory-day.html
Now, I am passing on razors before I pass on.
Saturday is my Iwasaki Kamisori day after 10-12 months I just couldn’t get comfortable with SR’s but no issue now (after numerous “slices”) with a true Kami 👍
