Happy to talk through it in PM, Which, to be honest, is probably better than a video. There are a lot of honing videos on YT, and only so much you can learn watching someone else do it.
First honing session of 2026. Took this Tanifuji to a small, buttery vintage coticule. Began with a milky slurry and finished with whisper light strokes on water. HHT off the stone was solid, after stropping on linen, superb!
DE razor user for over 10 years. Found a Facebook forum recently which has sparked buying a new razor, brushes, soap and balm. Really enjoy the ritual of a DE shave. Thanks for letting me join the forum.
I'd advise you go for quality: you'll either end up spending it anyway, or you'll recoup more of your investment if you are trying to sell better stones.
My recommendations would be:
Bevel setter: Shapton Glass 2k (I have it and it is...

I want to try not buying anything this year, but it's a tough go ..I really enjoy my shaving stuff.I buy Gillettes if they are in better shape than ones currently owned..I would like One more SV soap though... ;) but i can wait a year..
Signed up today. Some may know me, I make shaving brushes since 2008.. RV Shaving is my "brand". The picture btw is an older one, but the shop still looks like this, in my tiny basement.
This is the year I enjoy what I already have in my Den. THe only big addition will be the purchase of a Carbon Razor. Probably the copper one. I will support Never Alone from TRC and a few new offerings from A&E. Besides those my soap and splash...
I've got 21 razors, DE, Straight, Shavettes.. might add a SE to complete the different styles, of course, its only January 1 this might change by tomorrow lol
My goal is to add no more razors to my collection. Although, I would like to try out a Leaf Twig Razor. I am not buying one. I may trade for one though.
I also plan on passing on many of my razors. How remains to be seen.
New year.. new shave goals.
The Den is well stocked, a few stragglers on the way.
This year will be technique oriented, working on my straight technique, also learning the art of straight maintainence, strop, hone etc.
The DE goals to...
I don't think this gets talked about enough. Unlike DE blades, which more or less all have same dimensions, SEs come in different lengths and thicknesses which can much more dramatically change the way your razor feels. Here is a comparison of...

The experience. No 2 shaves are the same,
There's always a chance for some new experience.. new blade, or new type of razor etc
Tonight had my first try with a Kamisori style shavette. Pretty dang good I'd say
Hey Everybody,
I was on TSD as Ratpoison10. It was such a good forum, and will miss it. But sometimes we just have to make room for the new in order to grow. I have been collecting mainly razors since around 2012. I look forward to furthering my...
Bought one of these as a test for strait shaving, initially the blade choice AC professional. After a couple of shaves, i was doubting my choice. BUT then after some advice, switched to the AC Soft Guard blades and wooooo. What a difference...
