SOTD September 24 - October 24

Lovely shave with the Kropp - first straight shave in a month. I’ve been off the grid for the past month and this nice Kropp left me smooth, smooth, smooth :)

Aqua Velva After Shave

The WSP Formula T Pumpkin Pie Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #1 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Super Speed '47 DE Razor and a Gillette Silver Blue SS Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Pre-shave; Warm shower, face rinse with MWF bar soap.
Brush; Rudy Vey, “Vermillion Eagle” stabilised Padauk timber handle, clear coat finish with a 25mm Muhle STF ++ Synthetic fibre knot at Rudy’s loft setting.
Soap; Yardley, Vintage Green label.
Razor; Atelier Durdan, La Faulx ‘’The Scythe’’ AC razor with ++ plate. L.E 3/20 “Criniere Ardente” Fiery Mane.
Blade; Kai, Captain Titan Mild PINK.
Post-shave; Natio, For Men, Calming Aftershave Balm.
Cologne/EDP;
Moisturiser;
Attar (Perfume Oil);
Shave; Great shave today, bit of a timber theme look? Good old vintage lather whipped up with the RV synthetic and whisked off with the La Faulx, cold water face rinse followed by the Naito balm, my new favourite balm, which is a ‘’piss off’’ with all the flipping Artisan ones still on hand, LOL.

Bowl: Lathered in AliExpress - Chinese Made - Navy Ceramic Lathering Bowl.
Soap/Cream: Razor Emporium - 2025 Meetup - Limited Edition - Shave Soap Sample - Made in U.S.A.
Brush/Instrument: Whipped Dog - Silver Tip Badger Brush - 24 mm Knot, & 56 mm Loft.
Extra Stuff: Witch Hazel.
Shave Rating: DAM FINE SHAVE, VERY Close to BBS as you could want.


Comments: Using my Only Modern DE Safety Razor, with a REX Supply - AKA Razor Emporium - Platinum - Double Edge Blades.. I really like this Razor & Blade combo, efficient, sharp, blade is super sharp. Almost prefect, but noting is perfect.

Today again was normal routine, Three Pass Shave, better than NORMAL DFS results, close as could be to a BBS but not BBS. TECHNIQUE, SHARP BLADE, AND PERFECT LATHER IS KEY TO GOOD SHAVES, IMHO. THREE DIRECTIONS TODAY, yielded a DFS, almost BBS result. IMHO the REX Platinum is close to those Japanese Blades costing more. This Blade IMHO got High Points for Sharpness, Fair Price, and Longevity, producing many many GREAT SHAVES..

My Soap was Razor Emporium - 2025 Meetup - Limited Edition - Soap Sample, I got at Arizona Wet Shave Meetup February 2025, at Razor Emporium Shop in Phoenix, Arizona. Like this Soap because you use so little, it is pretty easy to Lather, and it leaves my Face in wonderful condition post Shave. This Soaps Base IMHO is close to PAA’s CK-6, like the 2023 & 2026 Meetup Edition Soap.

Honestly I use a Baskin Robbins - 31 Flavors, FREE TASTE Spoon. Use like a Level Spoon of this Soap scooped into my Shave Bowl, Damp Brush, and about a Full Teaspoon H2O applied by atomizer. THICK CREAMY LATHER is end results. Product is super easy to work with even a Caveman could do it. This Soap does the three things well, Soaps need to do, Wet & Soften Beard, Provide Slick Shave Surface, and last leave Skin nice Post Shave. This Soap Sample hit a home-run for me, it preformed wonderful, if I allow time for Soap veto sit on my Face to do it’s Magic, Beard Softening, before Shaving Off. Not sure this particular Soap will ever became a regular offer from Razor Emporium. Time will tell.

Still using New AliExpress - Chinese Made - Navy Ceramic Lathering Bowl works some much better then the Plastic AliExpress Lathering Bowl with Flower Pattern, this New Lather Bowl was under $7.00, snd I would call it a Best Buy. It sort of poor mans copy of a Captain’s Choice - Ceramic Lather Bowl.

This Razor, Blade, Soap combo works better than great, for a 70 Year Old Vintage. Correct me if you disagree BUT IMHO IT ALL ABOUT Technique, Technique, Technique, is way more important than SHAVING TOOLS. Never ever will chase BBS, Skin problems, why do I need too? DFS is good enough for me, this Non Tallow Based Soap provided some extra slick to my shave, over all results were DFS.+++.
